Describe the perfect day in your destination?
Waking up with the sun shining, the birds singing and an amazing view of the Ionian Sea is priceless. A nice leisurely breakfast on my balcony or terrace - perhaps some Greek yoghurt and local honey. Then I'd spend the day on a sailing boat, stopping at deserted coves for swimming. In the afternoon, I'd let the wind take the sails and cruise gently back into the harbour. In the evening, maybe a meal at a harbour side restaurant as the sun sets.
What are your top travel tips for your destination?
Research is vital for ensuring your holiday is exactly what you want. Our Sales Team in the UK office are incredibly knowledgeable and have visited every destination so can advise you and tailor-make your perfect holiday. In resort, take advantage of your Representative's knowledge - they know your chosen area better than anyone, and can arrange and source things that you may yourself find difficult to do. Above all, just relax and let the laidback way of life take over.
What local cuisine would you recommend to people staying in your destination?
There are so many to choose from! Kefalonia meat pie is the local speciality - lamb with rice and spices with a pastry top, it's a meal in itself and every restaurant has their own secret addition. Fresh fish, traditional greek salads, stuffed tomatoes and peppers, spetsofai (spicy sausage in tomato) and my personal favourite, moussaka. All washed down with the famous Kefalonian Robola wine.
What experiences would you recommend to our customers in your destination?
A boat trip is a must, and there are so many to choose from. You could take out your own motorboat, have a skipper on a fast motorboat or rib, or a sailing boat if you'd prefer a more relaxing day on the water - the choice is yours. Take a trip up Mount Ainos at night to watch the sunset and stars with a picnic and some wine. And don't miss Kefalonia's most well known residents; the majestic Loggerhead Turtles who visit the harbour in Argostoli.
