I moved to Corfu from the Netherlands in 1999, after finishing my Hotel Management education and a year working in the industry. I joined CV Villas in 2023, and before that I worked in hotels for over 30 years. In those years I have had various positions varying from Night Auditor to F&B manager. CV was something new within the familiar environment of hospitality. It has proven to be a good decision - the team at CV Villas is really great and I am thrilled to be a part of it.

Describe the perfect day in your destination?

What better than to wake up with sunshine and a beautiful sea view. Enjoy the morning sun with a cup of coffee and some fresh bread from the local bakery, before making your way to one of your favorite beaches to enjoy the sun and a swim in the beautiful clear waters. Before you realise, it will be time to enjoy a (light) lunch in a seaside taverna. After lunch, a little siesta at your villa is easily the best way to prepare for the evening. Go into Corfu town and wander around in the narrow streets of the old town, walk up to the old fortress and then enjoy a nice meal in one of the many restaurants..

What are your top travel tips for your destination?

Corfu is a beautiful island with many different "faces", making it worthwhile to rent a car for a few days and visit some of the different areas, such as Palia Perithia (an old mountain village), the coastline in Peroulades, the old town area in Corfu, and the old fortress (with influences from French, Venetian and British periods). These are just a few of the many beautiful places in Corfu to visit.

What local cuisine would you recommend to people staying in your destination?

You can find many tavernas on the island, each boasting tasty salads, and a big variety of starters (mezes) which will be put in the middle of the table for everybody to try. Local main courses to try are Sofrito, Bourdeto and Pastitio.

What experiences would you recommend to our customers in your destination?

Without a doubt, you should rent a boat for a day to explore the northeast coast which has so many small secluded little beaches to explore (some of which are only accessible from the sea) alongside the beautiful coastline. You will find a variety of seaside restaurants and tavernas to choose from to enjoy a wonderful lunch. You can always choose to book the boat with a skipper if you want to accompany the wonderful food with some really nice wine or beer.
