About the villa

Medieval towns, Maremma Natural Park and the shores of Monte Argentario are all within easy reach of this gorgeous old farmhouse, though its welcoming comfort and wonderful ambience make it tempting to just stay-put. Blissfully peaceful and beautifully restored, it is a relaxing haven of understated elegance, tucked away on a private estate, close to an imposing Castello. With splendid panoramic views, the villa stands in informal gardens, where a generously sized swimming pool is encircled by swathes of lavender and sword-leafed cactus plants. A broad terrace hems the length of the house, with a comfortable corner for sundowners and a chunky rustic table for leisurely lunches under pergola shade. Brimming with character, the villa’s interiors include big arches and brick vaulted ceilings; a large living room, flooded with light from four French windows; a well-equipped country kitchen with dining table; and six very spacious bedrooms, simply styled with fresh-toned fabrics, and rugs on cool tiled floors. The staff at Sant'Antonio are on hand to help make your stay as enjoyable and menorable as possible and offer a very flexible cook service (further details on request). The enchanting Sant’ Antonio is 3km from restaurants in Paganico, 25km from Grosseto, and 45km from Siena.

Average weather

The Maremma is a complete contrast to the classic Tuscan landscapes further north. Gone are the corrugated hills, cypress trees, and vineyards; replaced by fruit orchards and dairy herds—the fertile coastal plains here are Tuscany’s breadbasket. Port-resorts such as Porto Santo Stefano and Porto Ercole are popular weekend bolt-holes for trendy Romans.
