Villa Specialist

Paola Cuconato

From a young age, I have always had a profound interest in travelling, but it was my passion for different cultures and cuisines which is where my attraction for working in the travel industry began. I started my travel experience almost 30 years ago, when I began working for a travel agency and then two tour operators dealing with hotels. Being curious to work for an airline, I had the opportunity to work for Alitalia in Italy (Genoa being my native town) and here in the UK at Heathrow airport. In order to broaden my experience and develop my knowledge of my country, I worked for an outbound tour operator where I could deal with villas in Italy. This journey brought me to CV Villas, and for the past 20 years it has been a long, enjoyable and an ultimately fulfilling journey. Engaging with customers is the best part of my job because it enables me to showcase my in-depth knowledge about the region of Italy and ensure that my clients always receive the best, and most useful, information. By doing this, I hope to demonstrate my love for this Mediterranean country, which in itself is picturesque and full of hidden treasures.

What is your favourite destination?

Thailand is definitely my favourite destination. There's a beauty to this South Asian country which is accentuated by its tropical beeches, opulent places of interest and the kindness of the Thai people. The magical Phi Phi and bamboo islands, together with the Maya Bay, have the most breathtaking views and crystal clear waters. For me, the city of Bangkok was an eye opener - vast in size and splendour, this city becomes magical at night thanks to its vibrant markets and fragrance of the enticing cuisine that's all around you.

Which destination is top of your bucket list and why?

Despite there being a few destinations that I would love to visit, I would pick Australia as it has always been a country that's intrigued me. It has a huge diversity of different regions that you can visit, and so many landscapes to explore. There are lots of unique experiences that you can try: for me, I'd love to go snorkelling and try scuba diving at the Great Barrier Reef, and I'd also like to visit Fraser island (this is such a unique spectacle and a big must-see!)

How do you spend your time whilst on holiday?

An adventure is always needed! As a family, we tend to explore and embrace the region, visiting different places of interest and always trying to find that perfect beach. For me, going on holiday with your family is such a special occasion - we like to make memories and try out the most fun experiences.

What's your top travel tip?

My top travel tip would be to ensure that you hire a car for your holiday - for me, this is so essential to help you explore the destination. I'd also recommend asking your local rep for any first-hand recommendations about the area.
