Ionian Operations Manager

Christine Dickson

I am from Scotland but I live in Corfu and prior to moving here I worked in recruitment. I have been working in travel since 2002 when I decided I wanted to be a rep. I started with CV in 2006 as a villa rep and my current position of Assistant Operations Manager allows me to continue dealing with our customers in resort and assisting them with any issues as well as supporting Julie and our overseas teams. My passion for ensuring that people have a holiday they will never forget grows year on year. I love being on the front line with customers, whether its solving a problem or helping to create them an amazing holiday.

Describe the perfect day in your destination?

I'd wake up with a breakfast of coffee, fresh fruit, freshly baked bread and local honey, and would enjoy on the villa veranda overlooking the sea. Then, I'd spend a long lazy morning lying at the pool with a good holiday book. In the afternoon, I'd head out on my own boat for a spot of swimming and lunch. Back at the villa, a siesta is needed before getting ready to hit the local tavernas and cocktails bars for the evening.

What are your top travel tips for your destination?

Come prepared for Greek life, which can be somewhat simple and much slower paced than the UK. Pre-order any grocery shopping to be delivered to the villa for your arrival. Bring a good mosquito repellent and antihistamines. Research your destination well.

What local cuisine would you recommend to people staying in your destination?

A meze of seafood, Greek salad, fresh fried potatoes, spicy cheese dip and meat from the grill all washed down with homemade wine or an ouzo and ice. My favourites are feta filo with honey, prawn saganaki, pastitio, fried courgettes, grilled prawns with lemon and courgette balls. I would also suggest you have a chef come to you and prepare some local cuisine to enjoy in the comfort of your villa.

What experiences would you recommend to our customers in your destination?

An experience not be missed is a day out on the water with your own boat, swimming, snorkelling, fishing and rock bathing on the crystal clear waters before stopping for lunch in a traditional taverna.
