After a career working in England, I was extremely happy to start working for CV Villas in 2017. As my father was Italian, I have spent my childhood and adult holidays in Tuscany and know and love the area. It's a place that has something for everyone: beautiful natural scenery, interesting historic centres and absolutely delicious cuisine. I love meeting my guests and advising them so that they can see the very best that Italy has to offer.

Describe the perfect day in your destination?

Have breakfast on the terrace overlooking the beautiful Tuscan countryside. Spend the morning exploring Lucca with its cobbled streets and captivating architecture. Then cycle or walk the Renaissance walls that fringe the city. Sample the Lucchese cuisine and then head back to the villa to relax under the shady terraces and take advantage of the infinity pool. Enjoy dinner cooked by one of our excellent cooks. Relax with a good Tuscan wine.

What are your top travel tips for your destination?

Tuscany and Sardegna have so much to offer, so I would research the area beforehand and highlight some places of interest and any activities you want to do. Hire a car to explore the hidden mountain villages and scenery. And remember that Florence is busy in July and August, so pre-book any excursions. Also, stay out of the midday sun!

What local cuisine would you recommend to people staying in your destination?

Local Lucchese cuisine is robust and game is prepared in many ways. Sample the tordelli Lucchese pasta stuffed with seasonal meat and topped with ragu or farro soup-barley grain with barlotti beans and seasonal vegetables. For fresh fish, take a trip to the Versilian coast. In Sardegna, try su porcheddu - suckling pig wrapped in bay leaf and myrtle and slow roasted over an open flame.

What experiences would you recommend to our customers in your destination?

Experience a tour of a local winery and wine tasting with lunch or dinner. Learn how to cook the Tuscan or Sardegnian way. For the more adventurous, head out for a day's quad biking.
