About the villa

Graceful cypress trees line the path to this lovely house, a precursor to the elegance within. In its spacious sitting room, comfy sofas nestle round a big stone fireplace and a grand piano, and double doors open on to the garden. An attractively country-style dining room is open-plan, through a broad arch, to the very well equipped kitchen, where tradition meets high-tech with an Aga and modern appliances.  In a layout which lends itself to use by two families, the villa’s two upper levels each have a twin and a double bedroom and a master suite, the first floor master complete with four-poster bed and dressing room, and the second with its own study. All six bedrooms are air-conditioned, stylishly understated and furnished with a charming mix of rustic and contemporary pieces. Outside, a pergola pathway leads from the house to the twenty metre swimming pool, balanced, at the opposite end, by a leafy lounging pergola. In between are long lawns with a sail-shaded area, and the pool terrace is safely encircled by a fence disguised in greenery. Within easy reach of Pisa and the coast, Floreale is just 2km from local shops.

About the area

Lucca, Pisa & Lunigiana

Average weather

Although they are only 17km apart, Pisa and Lucca instantly feel like different worlds. The former is a lively student city on the River Arno, and has one of the world’s most recognizable monuments: the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Understated Lucca is compact and genteel, ideal for a Tuscany villa nearby, with handsome piazzas that frame churches in the Luccan-Romanesque style. Those on a Lunigiana holiday occupy the Apennine foothills in far north-western Tuscany. It is rolling, blissfully empty terrain whose few inhabitants have cultural links with neighbouring Liguria.
