About the villa
Poised between manicured lawns and mature trees, Villa Donati is intriguing, imposing and inimitable. A stone-flagged hall is a stunning introduction to the style and spaciousness of the villa, where vaulted ceilings arch over multiple rooms, on a grand scale, each eclectically furnished with colour and character. A clever trompe l’oeil adorns an ornate staircase; huge bathrooms serve seven bedrooms, featuring four-posters and painted furniture; there’s a cool gym and a warmly traditional study; and social space includes a cheerful family room with beams and bright furnishings, an elegant drawing room with French doors to the long lawns, and a TV room with rustic charm under the roof rafters.
The country kitchen opens to a breakfast terrace, which leads to a great barbecue gazebo among the trees. The graceful loggia has a chequered tile floor and stylish sitting and dining areas. And the grounds encompass a fountain, a sizeable swimming pool, poolside pergola, private chapel, and a tennis court shared with nearby villa Novedieci (also featured by CV Villas). Offering cook and concierge services, the villa is just 5km from amenities in lovely Lucca.

Lucca, Pisa & Lunigiana

Average weather
Although they are only 17km apart, Pisa and Lucca instantly feel like different worlds. The former is a lively student city on the River Arno, and has one of the world’s most recognizable monuments: the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Understated Lucca is compact and genteel, ideal for a Tuscany villa nearby, with handsome piazzas that frame churches in the Luccan-Romanesque style. Those on a Lunigiana holiday occupy the Apennine foothills in far north-western Tuscany. It is rolling, blissfully empty terrain whose few inhabitants have cultural links with neighbouring Liguria.
