Our view

A romantic retreat just for two, and very comfortable for a family of three or four, this is a lovely little villa in the heart of Tuscany, with bags of character and a big swimming pool.

In brief

  • Peaceful location
  • Romantic getaway
  • Beautiful gardens

About the villa

Quietly positioned, sympathetically restored, and brought up to date with contemporary comforts, this gorgeous little house sits amid generous gardens of lawns and mature trees, encompassing a children’s play area and a surprisingly large swimming pool. With rustic beams, exposed stone walls and creamy white décor, the villa is furnished throughout in lovely country style. On the ground floor, the kitchen/diner opens out to a covered dining terrace and leads, through a broad brick archway, to the sitting room, where WiFi, HiFi and satellite TV sit alongside an open fireplace, and an arched glass door looks out to a tiled terrace, furnished with a bistro table. Upstairs are a double bedroom and a single with an extra bed for a child; both individually styled in cool fresh colours, and each complete with air conditioning and a cheerfully tiled en suite shower room. About 3km from shops and restaurants in Montopoli, Casetta Miniato is within easy reach of Pisa, Florence and Lucca. And, for larger groups, the house could be booked with together with neighbouring Casa Montopoli, also featured by CV Villas.

About the area

Lucca, Pisa & Lunigiana

Average weather

Although they are only 17km apart, Pisa and Lucca instantly feel like different worlds. The former is a lively student city on the River Arno, and has one of the world’s most recognizable monuments: the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Understated Lucca is compact and genteel, ideal for a Tuscany villa nearby, with handsome piazzas that frame churches in the Luccan-Romanesque style. Those on a Lunigiana holiday occupy the Apennine foothills in far north-western Tuscany. It is rolling, blissfully empty terrain whose few inhabitants have cultural links with neighbouring Liguria.
