About the villa
Positioned amid sun-soaked vineyards and olive grove hillside slopes, this recently restored and rambling villa is a perfectly peaceful rural retreat, with the added advantage of being just a 7 minute drive from Lucca. A lovely old house, with buttermilk walls, forest green shutters, big beams and bags of character, it is furnished with effortless elegance in traditional country house style, and enhanced with contemporary facilities from kitchen appliances to WiFi and satellite TV. With an equal mix of double and twin bedded rooms, ideal for families, each of the six bedrooms is fitted with air conditioning, the master suite complete with a romantic marble bathroom. A delightful country kitchen has an open fire and spacious dining area; and the cheerfully colourful and comfortable living room has double doors out to the covered veranda, which is furnished for al fresco dining and looks out across the Lucca plains to the hills beyond. In Eletta’s natural gardens, undulating lawns lead down to the private pool and stylishly furnished poolside pergola. And for more active recreation, there are tennis courts just 1km away.

Although they are only 17km apart, Pisa and Lucca instantly feel like different worlds. The former is a lively student city on the River Arno, and has one of the world’s most recognizable monuments: the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Understated Lucca is compact and genteel, ideal for a Tuscany villa nearby, with handsome piazzas that frame churches in the Luccan-Romanesque style. Those on a Lunigiana holiday occupy the Apennine foothills in far north-western Tuscany. It is rolling, blissfully empty terrain whose few inhabitants have cultural links with neighbouring Liguria.
