Nissaki, Barbati, Gouvia, Kommeno & Corfu Town, Corfu, Greece
What was once an olive mill built in 1740 has been recently refurbished into a cool and characterful luxury villa, just 5km from shops and restaurants in Corfu Town. There’s a taverna next door for traditional Corfiot dining, plus you can even have home-cooked meals delivered straight to your door at your convenience. Entrance to this charming villa is down a path at the centre of the lawned gardens peppered with majestic olive trees; at the end of the path is a very inviting private pool and through an archway there’s a wonderful al fresco dining area with a pizza oven and BBQ covered by a leafy pergola. Inside, the villa has been exquisitely decorated with ornate mirrors and tasteful works of art. Accommodation is all on one level featuring a large living room with high beamed ceilings and access to the terrace, a well-equipped kitchen with a breakfast table and a cosy library. There are three delightful bedrooms comprising two double rooms with king size beds with a shared shower room which can be set up as twin bedrooms. Then there is the master bedroom which is beautifully decorated with an antique Louis 14th bed equipped with a custom French Bultex mattress and its own shower room en suite.
This villa is perfect for guests who enjoy hiking as there is a beautiful Italian pine forest just minutes away, plus a multitude of hiking trails. Meanwhile, there are amazing beaches on both the east and west coast of the island within easy driving distance.
For an additional cost, there is also a self contained apartment adjoined to the property that can sleep an extra 2 adults and 1 child. Available on request. Please note that the self contained apartment could be occupied by other guests. The apartment shares the main front gate but has it's own entrance and gardens and will not have access to the pool or gardens that belong to the main house.

Gouvia was once a Venetian naval base and a way-station for the London–Karachi flying-boat service; it now has the island’s biggest marina. Close by, upmarket Kommeno, and the former fishing villages of Nissaki and Barbati for a holiday, represent the best of rural Corfu. Civilized yet unspoilt, the area is half way along Corfu’s most beautiful stretch of coast. Yet, since it flanks the main road, from here the whole of northern Corfu is open to exploration, by bus or—better still—by car.

There is no better way to explore the coastline and discover deserted bays and coves with their translucent water to add to the overall enjoyment of your holiday. Small boats and speedboats can be pre-booked with our UK office and we recommend early reservations, especially in July and August, as availability is limited. UK boat licences will no longer be valid in Europe from January 2021 due to Brexit. Smaller size boats can still be hired without a licence which remains unchanged.
