About the villa
Set on the highlands amongst palm trees, with stunning views of the Caribbean Sea, Sugar Hill is the perfect retreat for both families and friends with excellent inclusive services for an unforgettable experience. This property has a typical colonial design with colour-washed walls, flower-draped terraces, peachy tones and is richly furnished in hand-carved Jamaican mahogany and vibrant fabrics. There are plenty of outdoor spaces, from roofed lounge areas, to the covered veranda for al fresco dining seamlessly set by the private pool and its accompanying Jacuzzi. Designed for large groups, Sugar hill features four bedrooms in the Main Villa and four more in the Guest Cottage. All bedrooms in the Main House have king size beds and open up to the main veranda, with the exception of the master bedroom suite that boasts a private terrace with outdoor shower, a connecting study, and an exclusive en suite bathroom with Jacuzzi bath. Two double bedrooms have shower rooms en suite and the remaining one, which can be made up as a twin, has an en suite bathroom. The Guest Cottage contains three smaller but very eye-catching twin bedrooms with bathrooms en suite on the lower level, and an exclusive suite upstairs opening to a private balcony with breath-taking views. A great addition to the cottage is the well-equipped gym on the ground floor. Set on the exclusive Tryall Club, guests will enjoy all the unique resort facilities; a temporary membership fee is required, payable locally. This luxurious villa is twenty minutes by road from Montego Bay and a short stroll from Tryall’s private beach and golf course.

Plan to pay your TMD fee at the Front Desk in the Great House when you register. They will also set up a charge account for you during your stay. If you plan to pay for your charge account in cash at the end of your stay, they will request a cash deposit. If you plan to pay for your charge account with a credit card, they will place a hold on your card to cover this amount.
Please note that pool heating will usually bring the water temperature up to approximately 10 degrees higher than the night time temperature. As such in early or late season if the nights time temperatures are low, guests may still find the pool feels cold despite heating.
An English speaking CV Contact will visit during your stay. Contact details will be sent with your travel documents.
Arrival from 15:00. Departure by 11:00.
For all villas in Jamaica there are fixed staff gratuities that are payable on top of the villa rental price: 10% of the villa rental in High Season, 15% in Low Season. These can be paid locally in cash (US dollars or Jamaican dollars) but we strongly recommend pre-paying them with your holiday balance so that this is all taken care of beforehand as it is often difficult to withdraw large amounts of cash locally
A typical grocery budget is US$55-$65 per adult per day and US$25 per day for preteens [Note: A few villas have higher food and beverage budgets.]. This may vary up or down depending on market prices and menus. If you request shrimp, lobster, imported beef or large quantities of other food items, this estimate will increase. Your cook will pre-purchase your first few meals, pantry staples and a small starter bar (a few bottles of Red Stripe, moderately-priced wine and rum). Additional alcohol requests will increase your budget.
If you wish to go to the various markets with your cook, you are welcome. Otherwise, simply review with them your tastes and distastes and they'll handle it all while you stay at the villa and relax. At week's end, they will present receipts and reconcile your account. Please be prepared to pay for your groceries with cash or credit cards and to tip your villa staff and driver with cash. We cannot accept prepayment for groceries or staff gratuities at Tryall Club villas. They will welcome both US and Jamaican dollars.
Estimating grocery costs is not a science. Much depends on the menus you want and current market prices. Obviously, this is a variable so anticipate that your cook may refund money at week's end... or ask you for more money mid-week. In either case, your cook or chef will reconcile your food and beverage bill at week's end.
On your first day at the villa, your cook will meet with you regarding menus for the week, then finish the week's shopping. At that time, you will give them cash for your food and drink plus their $60 taxi fare. Alternatively, if one or more of you wish to go to the supermarket with your cook, you may use your credit card. (Stores will not accept your card from your cook if you are not present with them.) Roadside vendors of fresh fruits and produce will require cash.

The day starts while guests are still asleep. The cook quietly places pots of steaming Jamaican coffee on the veranda. Full breakfast is served when all guests are ready. A typical breakfast may include fresh-squeezed orange juice and fresh fruits, banana fritters or plantain, eggs, bacon, pancakes or cereal ~ or Jamaican ackee and salt fish. For lunches and dinners, your cook will prepare their own mix of Jamaican specialties ~ including delicious homemade soups and desserts, lobster, curried goat, jerk pork or chicken, pasta, lamb, beef, fresh fish ~ or serve traditional American fare as you request. Warning: Jamaican cooks are excellent and portions are generous! Your cook will handle grocery shopping and meal preparation. Your chambermaid and laundress will care for every detail of your bedroom and bath ~ providing fresh linens and flowers, returning your neatly-folded laundry, and turning down your bed each evening. The gardener will maintain the pool and grounds immaculately each day. If there is a butler included, then they serve, tend bar and generally facilitate.

Lying to the south of Cuba, Jamaica is the third-largest island in the Caribbean. Rainforest covered hills around Port Antonio contrast with swampy morass at the Royal Palm Reserve and the white-sand beaches of the north coast resorts. Music is an integral part of the country’s culture: on a Jamaica holiday, you will hear reggae playing in almost every bar, restaurant, and shop, and gospel harmonies ring out from white-washed churches. Life in Jamaica’s beach resorts—Negril, Montego Bay, and Ocho Rios—is laid-back and easy-going—except when you visit the markets, where stallholders insist upon good-natured haggling.
