About the villa
The Valle d’Itria is an atmospheric area, renowned for its conical ‘trulli’ dwellings, and well placed for a feast of charming towns and a choice of fabulous beaches. Orchards and vineyards soak up the sun in its fertile and photogenic landscape, forming the setting for this enchanting family villa in Puglia. Its two tall cones and whitewashed walls, a metre thick, combine to keep the house refreshingly cool and remarkably characterful. The pride and joy of its local owner, the villa is furnished in country style and has a kitchen, living room and small sitting area, where colourfully cushioned seating is built into an architectural arch.
The three bedrooms are furnished with cheerful simplicity, and there is a shower room, a cloakroom and two covered dining terraces. All this sits in extensive gardens of lawns, cactus beds and floral borders, which surround the swimming pool and an adjacent dining gazebo among the olive trees. Giu al Trullo’s peaceful spot is just 3km from supermarket and excellent restaurants in the walled market town of Cisternino; and the ‘white town’ of Ostuni, Torre Cane beach, and a golf course are all within 20km. Very private, yet within easy each of shops and excellent restaurants, and with two spacious bedrooms, this charming property is a firm favourite with CV guests.
"The trullo was absolutely beautiful...the gardens were landscaped around the pool with architectural cacti and flowers and the pool was huge. ..the trullo was so cool (the temperature was 34 outside!) the conical roof stretched upwards and the place was spotless. It was deceptively spacious inside. The rooms were airy and there was a welcome hamper on the table. Enzo was so friendly and welcoming. One night when I was having all my Italian cousins round for dinner, the pool lights would not go on and he came out within minutes to fix them. He sourced a cake for Harry's 10th birthday too. He was great. We went to to the beach at Penna Grossa near Brindisi - now a nature reserve - the sea was beautiful."
"Some days we just lounged around the pool....The boys loved it and after your villa in Meganissi in Greece last year I thought it would be hard to beat but this was even better! We are both firm converts to the villa holiday thanks to you!"

If a building can be a symbol for a whole region, then the trullo stands for Puglia—also known as ‘Apulia’ in English. Think of a Puglia villa holiday and those round, whitewashed limestone buildings with their comical, conical roofs always spring to mind. But there’s more to the region that is the narrow heel of Italy’s boot than trullo country around Alberobello. Discover baroque beauty in Lecce, Emperor Frederick II’s mysterious architecture at the Castel del Monte, and total relaxation on a Puglia villa stay in a rural Masseria.
