Known as Greece's 'emerald isle', Corfu is rich in natural beauty. With its wonderful food scene, fascinating history, waterfront activities and breathtaking scenery, this diverse island is the perfect spot for an escape with the ones you love. Whether you're visiting for the first time or the fifteenth, a villa holiday here is never boring. Whether you'd prefer to roam horseback through shaded olive groves, zip across the sea on a water ski or discover enchanting islands by boat, there are plenty of experiences to enjoy. Here are some of our favourites.

1. Boat trips

Corfu is well-known for the plethora of boats bobbing along its coastline, and there are plenty of rental options available if you want to explore the coast yourself. This island is best seen from the water: head across to the pretty Paxi islands, gaze upon the sun-bleached rocks of Voutoumi Beach, or simply laze the day away with a picnic on the cyan waters.

Where to stay

Part of our luxurious ABOVE collection, beautiful Ophelia boasts contemporary comfort and enchanting island character, all positioned right above the sea. The villa shares easy direct access to a beautiful beach, a tennis court and even a private jetty with neighbouring villa Amarea - the ideal spot to start your boating journey!

2. Walking

Corfu is filled with trails and hiking paths that weave along the coastline and further inland. If you're up for a challenge, try the Corfu trail, a 220km route spanning the length of the island. This is the best (and probably most rewarding) way to discover all the varied landscapes Corfu has to offer, from olive groves to narrow gorges and juniper dunes.

Kokkini is a delightfully restored rustic cottage surrounded by its own sun-soaked vineyards. Outside, a beautiful stone terrace is furnished for al fresco dining and shaded beneath a vine-cloaked pergola. The villa is nestled in ideal hiking territory. The nearby hillsides here are threaded with all kinds of tracks leading to historic villages and extraordinary views.

3. Water sports

If water sports are your thing, look no further than Kalami Bay. Here, thrill-seekers can enjoy a number of exciting activities, from kayaking and canoeing to water-skiing and paragliding. Kalami also offers a number of fantastic shops and restaurants. Avlaki Beach, with its crystal-clear waters, is perfect for snorkeling. Dassia is another great spot for all kinds of water sports, known for its friendly and cosmopolitan atmosphere.

Where to stay

A beautifully spacious house in a tranquil setting, Yialiskari Bay House is within walking distance of all Kalami Bay has to offer. Quietly positioned on olive grove slopes above a sleepy cove, this villa boasts large wraparound terraces and elegant muted furnishing.

4. Horse riding

There’s no way to explore Corfu that's quite as magical as on horseback. Travel slowly along beaches and forested trails as you discover the island’s beautiful scenery from a whole new perspective. There are plenty of stables and riding centres near Kassiopi, on Corfu’s northeast side, as well as in Issos in the southwest.

Where to stay

A fantastic choice for families, Villa Cassia is a contemporary stone village house that expertly combines traditional charm and modern elegance. This comfortable property is a short stroll away from the thriving harbour of Kassiopi and its popular beaches. Perfect for a day out with the little ones, the villa is situated just 2km from horse riding experiences in Avlaki.
