Taormina and Eastern Sicily, Sicily, Italy
A peaceful and private family villa in Sicily, this rural retreat is set on the slopes of Mount Etna, within easy reach of the island’s south-eastern beaches, wine trails and charming old towns.
In generous grounds, on the outskirts of Trecastagni village, this is an airy and welcoming house, designed to embrace the indoor/outdoor lifestyle of the Med. A broad covered terrace runs the length of villa, shading an al fresco dining area and overlooking the twelve metre swimming pool in its sunny paved surround. Extensive lawns are sprinkled with young olive trees and furnished with rattan loungers, a barbecue and poolside picnic table, while, within the house, the style is smart and contemporary. With floors in polished pine and cool tiles, the villa has accommodation on two levels, a sitting room and kitchen diner occupying the upper ground, with three en suite bedrooms below.
A sweeping open staircase links the two floors, descending from the dining room to a second comfortable sitting room. Well positioned for the coast, countryside and culture of the locale, the villa is an easy drive from Catania, Taormina, golf at Castiglione and the sandy beach of Riposto, and the shops and restaurants of both Trescastagni and Viagrande are within 2km.
Electricity is included up to 250 kWh per week. Extra electricity usage is 0.40 Euro per Kwh unit payable locally. .

Perhaps Sicily’s main tourist destination, Taormina has something for everyone. A fabulous coastline, a land and history shaped by an active volcano and a choice of a low key evening or a livelier night a little further down the coast. The east coast’s history of being conquered has led to a rich cultural heritage with so many sites to see – most famously being the ancient theatres. With this in mind, it could be easy to miss out on a shopping experience – choose from the independent gift shops or the more well-known stores found in Catania. And of course, you can’t avoid the magnificent and varied Italian cuisine.
