Glitzy harbours, cosmopolitan seascapes and charming historic towns make France's sun-drenched southern coast a place to remember. The dreamy Côte d’Azur is where belle époque squares meet fragrant lavender fields, and magical medieval gardens melt into star-studded sands.

A villa holiday here is all about the iconic beaches, star-studded towns and, of course, a touch of glitz and glamour. Whether you’re hoping to soak up the sun near medieval Grimaud, gaze upon the twinkling Bay of Cannes, or head for the hills in fragrant Grasse, here are some of our favourite places to visit.

Grasse

Grasse is the sweet-smelling perfume capital of the French Riviera, a stunning hill town in the north of Cannes. Three perfume factories, Fragonard, Molinard and Galimard, are certainly worth a visit, offering daily tours and demonstrations. There’s lots more to the town too. The old town is bright and beautiful, with narrow cobbled streets and plenty of wonderful artworks, as well as lovely views to the sea.

Where to stay

Villa Valence is just over a kilometre from the town’s museums, shops and restaurants. This enchanting property boasts beautifully furnished interiors, but the real highlight is the large private pool, perfectly placed with views down to the Bay of Cannes.

Grimaud

The medieval village of Grimaud is set on a hilltop with stunning views of the French countryside. When you fancy a day away from the glitzy beach bars and trendy tourist attractions, this tranquil enclave is perfect for a peaceful day exploring. Wander winding streets lined with cafes, take a look at the crumbling castle ruins, or head to Port Grimaud, a nearby village known for its colourful waterfront homes and impressive bobbing boats.

Where to stay

Step back in time at Villa Magdeleine, a beautifully restored 18th century shepherd’s house just a short drive from Grimaud’s boutiques and views. The property offers hauntingly beautiful panoramas and a heated private pool, all set among a twenty-acre estate of sun-soaked vineyards.

Vence

Vence is one of the most beautiful villages on the French Riviera, located up in the mountains and away from the bustling seafront. You can truly spend hours wandering through its medieval streets, immersing yourself in local life as you enjoy its quiet authenticity. The village is rich in history, fascinating monuments and extraordinary views.

Where to stay

Villa Claudia is situated on the outskirts of Vence, within walking distance of the historic centre. The villa is nestled among pines and oaks that drop away through the Malvan Valley towards the sea, framed by lush, tropical gardens and olive groves. The interiors are sleek and retro, designed for a totally indulgent and relaxed atmosphere.

Antibes

Alongside its picture-perfect beaches and bobbing mega-yachts, Antibes is most loved for its rich culture and artistic history. This is where F. Scott Fitzgerald gained inspiration for Tender is the Night, and where the Musée Picasso (Picasso’s former home) can be found. Antibes has a truly unique atmosphere which has drawn creatives throughout the years, with pretty Provencal markets, beautiful botanical gardens and quaint cafes.

Where to stay

Around a half an hour’s drive from Antibes is Villa Fontaine, an elegant and spacious property in a blissful countryside setting. The villa has been lovingly restored and is full of character, nestled close to the coast and just a walk from the lively and picturesque village of Valbonne.
