About the villa
Some thirty years ago, the British owners of this much loved villa were among the first to be spellbound by St. Stephano’s scenic beauty, creating a house which, over time, has evolved to encompass contemporary comfort, while retaining the romance of ‘an Englishman’s home abroad.’ Ever the choice of discerning travellers, Katerina remains enviably private and peaceful, with a gloriously unhurried tempo, enhanced by mesmeric sea views. A delightfully informal sitting/dining room is the heart of the house, with hundreds of books to browse through, and with double doors to a shaded dining terrace. A ten metre infinity pool nestles in gardens of flowering shrubs and mature trees, south-facing, sun-soaked and enjoying uninterrupted views of the bay. And a steep and stepped path leads from the garden to a quiet beach below, for excellent sea bathing. Kerasia beach is about a twenty minute walk away, and St. Stephano harbour is within easy reach for shops, boat hire and water’s edge tavernas.
"Beautifully situated and very attractive house."
"We have always had an eye on Katerina and we jumped at the chance of an early summer visit. In this instance, ‘arriving’ was a hundred times better than ‘travelling hopefully’ and we have been overwhelmed by the fascinating library of local and family history and also by the wonderfully friendly atmosphere. We have been lucky with the weather after a boisterous start and we had the beach to ourselves for a character building swim. All in all, it has been a wonderfully peaceful and relaxing holiday in amongst a haven of colourful flora and continuous birdsong. We return refreshed to our sea in South Devon knowing it will be a pale comparison with the spectacular colours from Katerina.'"

As you navigate the winding hill dotted with olive trees and beehives, St Stephano glimpsed far below looks every bit the archetypal Greek fishing village. Lining a horseshoe-shaped bay facing the Albanian mountains, it is a scattering of houses, a succession of tavernas, and a series of jetties, all set in a wooded amphitheatre dotted with elegant villas and cypress trees. It is striking, yet still has working fishing boats; a St Stephano holiday is a retreat of simple pleasures.
