Area Supervisor Corfu

Elina Thaw

I was born in Oxford, and lived mainly in Birmingham until I decided to move to Corfu. I followed my dream of working within the travel industry from the age of 19 firstly in Tour Operating, Aviation and then as a Representative for CV Villas over in Corfu. My position can be very challenging at times (especially working in the heat!) but the rewards of meeting the CV guests and ensuring their holidays are the best they've ever experienced more than makes up for it. Every day is completely different and I couldn't think of anything that I'd rather be doing.

Describe the perfect day in your destination?

Waking on a glorious sunny day, and having breakfast on the balcony overlooking the ocean. Relaxing around the pool and then taking an afternoon siesta before dressing up for a scrumptious dinner in one of the local restaurants.

What are your top travel tips for your destination?

It's advisable to do some homework on your chosen destination before you travel. Look at the average temperature for the times you're travelling, and prepare for the heat. Check if your accommodation has air conditioning. if there's local wildlife, if there are there mosquitoes at this time of year, or even wasps. Ensure the position of the villa is in the right place for you, like if it's withing walking distance of nearby restaurants or the beach. Whatever's important to you to get the most out of your holiday, make sure you know the answers.

What local cuisine would you recommend to people staying in your destination?

Greek salads are my favourite as the taste just can't be replicated. Try some of the Corfiot dishes such as Sofrito, or melt in the mouth veal with garlic sauce. Grills such as souvlaki, pieces of Chicken or pork dripping with fresh lemon juice. Vegetarians need not worry as there are many dishes available, made from local Greek vegetables.

What experiences would you recommend to our customers in your destination?

On the water is one of my favourites. Hire a captain or captain yourself. Visiting the local beaches, stopping off for a lunch and a swim in the crystal clear waters. Take advantage of being so close to Albania and take a day trip over to visit Butrint (the famous archaeological site). If you wish to remain in your beautiful villa, hire one of our chefs to prepare, cook and serve you a local delight.
