Boasting panoramic views over Todi's magnificent countryside, Domus Petra is a spacious and elegant villa with a large pool and great outdoor living areas.
Domus Petra is set on a hilltop with panoramic views of the sweeping hills and valleys, towards the medieval hill town of Todi. The property dates all the way back to the fifteenth century, originally housing the Church of San Silvestro. The villa has been elegantly restored yet retains its charm through original church walls and arches. Each of the rooms has a unique style, from the sixteenth-century master bedroom to the nineteenth-century mantel on the main floor. Upon arrival, guests enter the main house from the portico. The main courtyard offers a lovely outdoor dining area. There is also a large terrace furnished with rattan that spans from the living room to the dining room. The ground floor also boasts a spacious kitchen, butler's pantry, dressing room and twin room with a private entrance hall. Upstairs are five more beautiful en suite bedrooms. On the second floor, the media room is great for indoor fun, with a large plasma screen TV and sound system, fireplace, skylights and ping-pong table. Two lovely en suite bedrooms complete this floor.
The exquisitely designed interiors are complimented by beautiful extensive grounds. The large private pool is accompanied by a pool house, designed with a sauna and well-equipped fitness room, and summer kitchen. The sun deck and portico provide extensive areas for relaxing in the sun or shade. The lounge area overlooking the pool offers panoramic views and a fireplace. The highlight is after sunset, when the golden light accents the cypress and olive trees. The property also includes a private chapel in its grounds.

In the south, an Umbria holiday comes dotted with honey-coloured stone farmsteads and sprinkled with olive groves—this region is not called ‘Italy’s green heart’ for nothing. The towns are a must-see for cathedral connoisseurs: there’s nothing restrained about the façade at Orvieto, yet one simple rose window is all that breaks up the classy simplicity at Todi. All of southern Umbria’s villas are within day-trip distance of Rome, too: the station at Orvieto has a fast link with the capital.
