Dimora dell'Etna is a magnificent, historic country estate situated along one of the charming Etna wine routes close to Castiglione di Sicilia. This villa is set on a hill, overlooking Sicily's breathtaking rolling landscapes towards the Alcantara Valley and Mount Etna. The gardens are lush and well kept, complete with an amazing saltwater infinity pool. An unpaved road winds through the estate grounds, leading to the manor house, old millstone and various agricultural buildings. The interior is elegant and recently restored with a mix of contemporary and classic furniture. The rooms include four spacious bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, a well-equipped kitchen, lovely living room and lounge. There is also a guest bathroom.

This villa is the perfect base for exploring the surrounding area, including the volcano with its vineyards, old lava flows and low lava stone walls. The villa is just a short drive from a number of interesting villages, including Castiglione, Randazzo, Linguaglossa and Piedmonte. Perfect for seaside enthusiasts, the villa is also near to the popular coastal resorts of Giardini Naxos, Taormina, Aci Trezza, Aci Castello, Catania and Syracuse. The closest airport is Catania, just 72km away.

Average weather

Perhaps Sicily’s main tourist destination, Taormina has something for everyone. A fabulous coastline, a land and history shaped by an active volcano and a choice of a low key evening or a livelier night a little further down the coast. The east coast’s history of being conquered has led to a rich cultural heritage with so many sites to see – most famously being the ancient theatres. With this in mind, it could be easy to miss out on a shopping experience – choose from the independent gift shops or the more well-known stores found in Catania. And of course, you can’t avoid the magnificent and varied Italian cuisine.
