Stunning villas, excellent family activities, incredible views and 5 star luxury services make a holiday at the Martinhal Sagres Beach Resort one to remember. Stylish and welcoming, Martinhal Sagres offers families and couples an indulgent beach break with high-class accommodation, restaurants, bars, and kids and leisure facilities. In this week's blog post, we'll explore how you can make the most of this incredible holiday destination set in the sunny Algarve.

DAYS 1 & 2

Portugal’s stylish south coast is popular year-round, a place where soaring cliffs and offshore sea caves are paired with eye-catching beaches. The Martinhal Sagres Beach Resort is perfectly poised on the edge of the coastline, overlooking extraordinary panoramas of the ocean. On your first day at the resort, you probably won't be able to resist a visit to the beach. Head down to the Beach Hangout with access to Martinhal Beach and its stretch of golden sands. There are cosy family Coconut beds to spend the day lounging and, if you get peckish, refreshments and snacks can be delivered from the pool bar. When on the beach, make sure to use Martinhal's complimentary facilities and not the public beach concession. A lazy beach day is best followed by a late afternoon's game of mini golf; there is a fifteen-track course that is super fun for both you and your little ones.

Martinhal Beach Windsurf

Day 2 is when you can really get stuck in. The resort offers a fabulous selection of tours and day trips, including dolphin watching and tuk-tuk tours in and around Sagres. Or, you could opt for a hiking tour to really soak in those views. These exciting activities do naturally depend on weather conditions, but, being in the Algarve, it's pretty likely that the sun will be shining. After the day's excitement, there's nothing better than a cosy dinner on the private terrace of your villa. The food options at Martinhal are flexible, meaning takeaway options are available.

DAYS 3 & 4

On the morning of Day 3, rent a bike and discover the area at your own pace, or opt for a lovely long lie in. For the remainder of the day, why not pick one (or several) of the resort's five swimming pools to enjoy. The village pool is ideal for families, complete with a small pool for toddlers, whilst youngsters will be drawn to the Oasis Pool or Club 98, part of the sports centre. The Pool Hangout is located just above the beach, sunk into a wooden terrace and furnished with its own bar.

Aaand relax. Day 4 is all about you. Finisterra Spa is located in its own secluded grounds at the centre of the resort, an oasis of calm and tranquility. The spa offers a wonderful selection of treatments for all ages - even baby massages! Or, take some time out and enjoy a couples massage. Martinhal's impressive Kids Club can take care of the little ones while you unwind. Finish this relaxing day at As Dunas, renowned for its fresh seafood and authentic Algarvian style. The shaded outdoor terrace is ideal for candlelit dinners accompanied by the sound of the sea lapping the shore.

DAYS 5 & 6

Ready for adventure? The resort's water sports centre is nestled on Martinhal Beach, where guests can hire equipment for windsurfing and other exciting activities. If water sports aren't for you, don't worry, you can never spend too many days lounging on the beach. For dinner, we recommend O Terraco, with its tasty Portuguese cuisine and ocean views. The spacious wooden deck is the perfect place to sip a glass of port and enjoy the panoramas. This restaurant is also great for buffet breakfasts.

There are countless places to visit around the resort. Martinhal Sagres is surrounded by one of the most picturesque natural parks in Portugal, Parque Natural do Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina, which is well-worth a visit. Sagres village is a fifteen minute walk from the hotel along the beach, with a selection of restaurants, shops and bars.  Lagos is also one to explore, with its young cheerful vibe and wealth of historic attractions. There are also plenty of great cafes and restaurants here. After a day exploring, head back to the villa and enjoy a dip in your own private pool.

DAY 7

With your fantastic holiday drawing to a close, it's time to get back to the beach and catch those last few rays of Algarvian sun. Head back to Martinhal Beach, Praia da Cordoama or Praia da Ingrina - the options are endless! The Josper Grill is a great spot to enjoy a sumptuous lunch before heading back to the airport.
