5 Ways to take wellness on holiday with you

  1. Keep calm and enjoy the flight

Rather than just thinking of the flight as a means of getting from A to B, why not really start your holiday the moment you board the plane. To truly relax, dab a little of Aesop’s ginger flight therapy on each wrist and drink in the soothing scent as you allow a calming feeling to takeover any in-flight tension. For those who enjoy a mile-high snooze, a soft silk eye mask  will send you to another level of dreaming, before waking up in your dream holiday destination.

  1. Reading to relax

There’s nothing quite like kicking back and relaxing either by the pool at your villa or on at the beach ready to dive deeply into an exciting new book. Reading is even proven to reduce stress levels, not that you’re likely to experience any tension on holiday, but all the more reason to keep turning the pages. The book of Joy by Desmond Tutu and the Dalai Lama is an uplifting holiday read.

  1. Namaste in the sun

For yoga bunnies or fitness fanatics, a place to practice your exercise routine overseas might play an important part in your holiday. We have a lovely selection of properties that feature a gym, while the yoga shala at Villa Water Lily (pictured below) is perfect for sun salutations overlooking paddy fields in Sri Lanka. Some villas even have their own yoga mats, but we also love the Charcoal moon phases travel mat by Jessica Olie.

  1. A mindful morning ritual

It’s easy to slip out of habits on holiday when it comes to diet or fitness and the like, and many would say rightly so; you are on holiday after all! One routine we enjoy taking on holiday with us, is a little morning ritual to start the day feeling positive. For some, this can be as simple as a cup of tea and 5 minutes to yourself, perhaps away from a screen. A nice villa holiday ritual could be waking up half an hour earlier than the rest of the family and heading to down to the pool for a quiet morning dip. Avid swimmers will love the 40m pool at Villa Amarea (pictured below).

  1. spa treatments for self-care

When it comes to self-care, nothing can beat a spot of pampering. Luckily enough we have a wonderful range of villas with spa facilities including saunas and steam rooms. Some of our most luxurious properties include unlimited spa treatments within the rental price. For perfect pampering we recommend the glorious Villa Azzaytouna, a fully staffed house in Morocco, which not only includes pampering treatments in its own spa room, but also a chauffeur for visits within Marrakech and chef service for all meals.
