The novelty of lockdown may have worn off now as we approach our seventh week, but there is no stopping our desire to daydream of places where we have travelled and of new destinations we hope to visit. For some lighthearted relief today, let us virtually transport you to 5 villas where we’d rather be in lockdown.

La Dimora del Santo, Sicily

The extensive grounds and fabulous pool at La Dimora del Santo in Sicily

Perfectly secluded in over a hundred private acres, La Dimora del Santo is a heavenly sanctuary in Sicily with room for up to 25 guests. Self-isolation here would have been just divine; spending time swimming in the impressive 20m pool, playing croquet on the extensive lawns or practicing yoga out on the terrace. The villa also has a spa, featuring a hammam and sauna, while in-villa treatments can be arranged by the concierge. The icing on the cake is the cook service, whereby a team of staff carefully prepare all meals, drinks and canapes as required. If you’d like to try your hand at preparing a traditional Sicilian dish, cooking classes can be arranged upon request, as can wine tasting; Italy has been ranked as the best country in the world for wine lovers after all.

Arc en Ciel, St Lucia

The incredible infinity pool and stunning sea views at Arc en Ciel in St Lucia

The views alone are enough to keep us happy at this paradisaical property. Arc en Ciel in St Lucia is a totally tropical delight, with grand high-ceilings, wraparound balconies and an exceptional infinity pool. Be prepared to fight for the master suite, where a private balcony offers magnificent views of Petit Piton, along with a perfectly private plunge pool and sundeck in an enclosed secret garden. Chef service is included seven days a week, making this is the ideal property for a relaxing Caribbean getaway.

Ca’n Flora, Mallorca

The large pool and gardens at Ca'n Flora in Mallorca

When it comes to family villas, our pick would have to be Ca’n Flora in Mallorca, where the lovely lawned gardens are also home to a fun children’s playground. There’s a nice big pool and shaded terrace, with an all fresco dining room and table tennis, along with a built-in barbecue. Inside, the country style kitchen makes cooking a pleasure, while all of the bedrooms are bright and spacious.

Villa Camelia, Florida

The large 15m pool and floating sunbeds at Villa Camelia in Florida

If you think you’ve seen high-spec luxury, just wait until you cast your eyes upon Villa Camelia, one of our biggest properties sleeping up to 28 guests. Let’s begin outside, with the 15m pool with floating loungers and a Jacuzzi, overlooking an impressive Jack Nicklaus golf course. But the fun doesn’t stop there, because inside along with the exciting themed bedrooms for children (think Star Wars, Disney princesses and the like), there’s a sports bar on the balcony, a cinema room and an arcade games room. There is no chance of boredom at this Florida villa.

Villa Mourisco, Portugal

The extensive grounds including private tennis court and pool at Villa Mourisco in the Algarve, Portugal

In Portugal, Villa Mourisco from our ABOVE collection has some serious stay home appeal. This tranquil oasis is nestled within 4 hectares of private land where the picturesque pool is encircled by palms and pines, with far reaching views of the med. The private tennis court and table tennis provide further outdoor entertainment, plus a short stroll away through the garden gate are the golden sands of Praia de Paraiso. If you’re travelling with musical talent, you may utilise the villa’s baby grand piano, while other treats include cook service and a welcome massage on the day of arrival.
