Nestled away between palm trees with far reaching views of the rice fields, this traditional styled Sri Lankan villa provides guests serenity with a unique holiday experience.
As guests enter the main villa, they are greeted by the open plan living area. This room holds bounds of natural light, has high beamed ceilings, contemporary furnishings and four antique french doors that open up onto a veranda; an ideal place for guests to relax. Further on in the villa, there is a kitchen, where Chef Gayan can be found. Gayan is capable of cooking western and local cuisine, from fresh tropical fruit to seafood straight from the Indian Ocean, guests are promised a wide range of variety during their stay. Four bedrooms are also situated on this floor; a master, two doubles and a twin room, all with shower room en suites and a mixture of four poster beds and direct private access to the outdoor area.
The garden annexe, painted a charming pink with green shutters, has an additional bedroom. This bedroom is fitted with a king size bamboo bed, alongside two bunk beds.
Outside, there are a handful of al fresco areas, verandas and lounge areas with hammocks and other soft furnishings that are a great place for guests to sit and watch abundant wildlife such as dancing peacocks, king fishers, water buffalos and even rice farmers going about their day to day work. There is also a charming pool area where guests can enjoy lounging around in the sun.
Buffalo House is just a fifteen minute walk to Era, a tropical beach passing temples, rice paddies, local shops and homes en route, providing guests with a real insight into Sri Lankan life and culture. A holiday here can be as relaxed or active as you wish. Learn how to make hoppers and curries with the villa chef. Head to the beach to relax or go surfing/bodyboarding. Take a guided bicycle ride through Galle’s rural hinterland. Visit a lowland tea factory for tasting sessions and tours. Embark on coastal cruises or whale/dolphin watching in season. Tour the atmospheric streets of the history-laden Galle Fort with excellent restaurants, boutique shopping and sunset views over historic sites. Relax with an in-villa massage or beauty treatment. Go shopping and eat out – the local team will be pleased to offer recommendations. Guests have very much enjoyed this property, early booking recommended.
