Set in a glorious rual setting, Casale La Sabina is one of our best loved properties and has recently been re-furbished with with modern pieces. Outside there is a Kamado barbecue and guests are welcome to use the Italian kitchen garden. The kitchen has a large wooden table, perfect for family dinners. There’s a small library as well as a shaded terrace, both the perfect respite from the Italian sun, or you can enjoy exploring the orchard and gardens, or take a dip in the private pool. On the first floor there is an en suite master bedroom with extensive views from the balcony, as well as two further bedrooms and a bathroom. The enchanting portico has magnificent views of the rolling countryside surrounding the property and will provide the perfect setting for al fresco meals.

The Sabine Hills are an untouched pocket of central Italy with excellent inexpensive restaurants and great walking. Our view is that this is a most attractive, comfortable and private retreat suitable for those who would like to explore this authentic corner of Italy. The picturesque towns of Southern Umbria, Todi, Spello and Spoleto are within reach. The villa is also an excellent base for garden lovers - many historic villas and gardens are within easy reach: Bomarzo, Vignanello, Villa Lante, Villa Farnese as well as Tivoli and the villas of Frascati. Casale La Sabina is also within easy reach of Rome by train with magnificent museums, churches, exhibitions and excellent 'Made in Italy' shopping. There are also classical, blues, jazz music festivals often in magnificent locations. Our Destination Expert is delighted to assist with restaurant, sightseeing itineraries and sports recommendations to explore this unspoilt region.

About the area

Near Orvieto, Todi & Northern Lazio

Average weather

In the south, an Umbria holiday comes dotted with honey-coloured stone farmsteads and sprinkled with olive groves—this region is not called ‘Italy’s green heart’ for nothing. The towns are a must-see for cathedral connoisseurs: there’s nothing restrained about the façade at Orvieto, yet one simple rose window is all that breaks up the classy simplicity at Todi. All of southern Umbria’s villas are within day-trip distance of Rome, too: the station at Orvieto has a fast link with the capital.
