Close to the pretty village of Mutigliano, Il Pergolato is a pair of countryside properties perfect for families and large group holidays.
Set in the grounds of a large estate where wine, olive oil & honey are produced, Il Pergolato is a perfectly peaceful countryside retreat in the heart of Tuscany. The main house is a pleasing shade of terracotta, with accommodation for 8 guests. Inside, the ground floor is open plan with wooden beamed ceilings and pretty paintings of landscapes adorn the walls. The living and dining area leads to the terrace, which is furnished for al freso dining, while the open-plan kitchen leads to the garden where you’ll find a charming pergola with further seating and far-reaching countryside views. The bedrooms of the main house consist of 3 doubles and 1 twin, with the remaining accommodation in the annexe.
The sunshine yellow annexe building has a comfortable living area with a kitchenette that opens out on to the covered terrace. Here guests can make use of further al fresco seating, a built-in barbecue for long lazy lunches and table tennis. Some steps down will lead you to the private pool amidst the lawned gardens, equipped with loungers and umbrellas. Shops and restaurants can be found just 2km from the property in the nearby village of Mutigliano, while Lucca is just 7km away.
Although they are only 17km apart, Pisa and Lucca instantly feel like different worlds. The former is a lively student city on the River Arno, and has one of the world’s most recognizable monuments: the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Understated Lucca is compact and genteel, ideal for a Tuscany villa nearby, with handsome piazzas that frame churches in the Luccan-Romanesque style. Those on a Lunigiana holiday occupy the Apennine foothills in far north-western Tuscany. It is rolling, blissfully empty terrain whose few inhabitants have cultural links with neighbouring Liguria.
