About the villa

The sense of tranquillity really sets-in about a mile before the house comes into view, on the final approach to Casa Forci down a forest track. But even that cannot prepare guests for the focal point of the villa’s grounds. Supremely private, between stone terraces and silver-leafed olive trees, the swimming pool exudes a magically romantic quality, its dark lining giving it the look of a natural waterway, with a columned gazebo at one end and seven sentinel cypress trees at other, all reflected in the still water. Nearer the house, lawned gardens are scented with jasmine, lavender and climbing roses, a covered dining terrace is furnished in country style, and built-in barbecues encourage lengthy lunches in the sun and within the old stone building, inspired restoration by its British owners has produced a wonderfully informal sitting room, warmed by a big open fireplace and adorned with big and bold eclectic artworks; and five beautiful bedrooms, three featuring curtained four-posters. With views to the Apuan Alps, this relaxing villa is 9km from local shops in San Alessio, 15km from Lucca, and 30km from Viareggio’s beach.

Important Information

Arrival at this villa is between 4 and 8 pm.
After 8 pm a fee of Euro 50 is payable and after 10 pm the fee is Euro 100.
Any late arrival after 8pm is on request and needs to be agreed in advance.
Please kindly note that after midnight – if an arrival is possible - the extra cost is Euro 100 per hour.

The 1.5km road, down a winding forest track leading to the house is not suitable for cars with low suspension.

Average weather

Although they are only 17km apart, Pisa and Lucca instantly feel like different worlds. The former is a lively student city on the River Arno, and has one of the world’s most recognizable monuments: the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Understated Lucca is compact and genteel, ideal for a Tuscany villa nearby, with handsome piazzas that frame churches in the Luccan-Romanesque style. Those on a Lunigiana holiday occupy the Apennine foothills in far north-western Tuscany. It is rolling, blissfully empty terrain whose few inhabitants have cultural links with neighbouring Liguria.
