About the villa
Le Chateau du Roi dates all the way back to the medieval era, rebuilt in the 18th century. The estate is large, elegant and authentically French, absolutely perfect for family reunions and weddings. The property is split into three separate houses: the main guest house, small guest house and La Tour. The main house (Grand Logis) can accommodate ten guests, designed with a timeless interior and warm atmosphere. The house has two charming entrance halls, a fully equipped kitchen opening onto an elegant dining room, and two living rooms which offer a stunning view of the courtyard and valley. Each room is spacious and inviting, furnished in authentic French chateau style with a contemporary flair. This house also includes five large bedrooms with en suite bathrooms. The Petit Logis is equally as charming, making for a fantastic wedding reception area. It has two airy pass-through living rooms accessible via a monumental staircase, and two bedrooms to accommodate eight further guests. La Tour is a quaint little building with a living room and two magnificent bedrooms, each complete with a private bathroom.
The exterior of this beautiful is equally as lovely, with a dazzling pool, dry moats and picturesque views across the valley and woods. The property also features a square tower crowned with battlements. Amenities can be found in lovely Mareuil, just 5km away. Local places of interest include the fascinating Caves of Villars and Saint Jean de Cole, a village characterised by its quaint set of medieval houses. Angoulême train station (Gare TGV) is only 43km away, whilst several airports are also in close proximity.

Average weather
A honey-coloured pocket of tiny towns and pretty green fields, the Dordogne brings the English Cotswolds to southwest France. It’s a region that draws gastronomes, history buffs and nature lovers in their thousands – and constantly catches hearts with its scenery, prehistory and slow French pace of life. Marvel at the many Michelin stars, admire the vine-striped hills, and take the time to wander the pretty cream-coloured river towns. Here, villas are just a gateway. France’s Périgord is authentic and historic – medieval châteaux are strung like pearls along the Dordogne and Dronne rivers, and there’s a heritage which recalls periods of rivalry and intense years of war.
