Savouring Crete. An island full of sites to discover, but visiting traditional and trendy restaurants should be on the top of your list. If you’re a foodie and like fresh produce and local dishes, take a look at our recommendations on the best places to dine in Crete.

1. Mon.Es

Mon.Es’s sophisticated dishes are inspired by authentic Cretan flavours and are something to behold. Created with a range of premium ingredients from their own limited production, every recipe holds its own story and unique aromas. This five hundred year old, romantic Venetian building with warming exposed stone, contemporary furnishings and a minimal atmosphere, creates a memorable and grandeur location to dine in. Get ready to dress up to the nines and rejuvenate your senses.

Where to stay

Villa Annie is only a twenty minute drive away from Chiana, where Mon.Es is based. Similar to the restaurant's design, this sleek and contemporary villa perched on a hill provides panoramic views and close proximity to the pretty beaches and villages of northwestern Crete.

2. Psaros

If you're seeking an outdoor waters edge dining experience, then Psaros is a must. With an array of fresh seafood options straight from the surrounding sea, great portions and an exceptional wine list, we highly recommend this hospitable restaurant.

Where to stay

For lovers of the coast, Villa Armonia is an intimate, arty and elegant, luxury villa in Kokkino Chorio that boasts fantastic sea views of the Mediterranean sea. Psaros, in Almyrida, is under a ten minute drive away, making this villa's location not only desirable, but also convenient.

3. Neromilos

Sometimes, there is nothing better than getting involved with the locals at a traditional, wholesome restaurant. Stoll through olive groves to reach Neromilos and get prepared for an evening fueled with laughter. Owned by husband and wife, this traditional and authentic restaurant provides not only homely cuisine, but also a memorable atmosphere with live music and greek dancing in the courtyard. It's been known you may be gifted some free starters or spirits if you dine with a smile.

Where to stay

Villa Thalia is a contemporary property for six in a desirable location within walking distance of a lovely sandy beach, as well as nearby shops and restaurants. Lucky for you, Thalia is just a fifteen minute walk away and a three minute drive from Neromilos.

4. Pelagos

Pelagos, a beautiful and charming neoclassical restaurant that is the epitome of personality. At the front of the building, a hanging boat with a built-in ice box displays the fresh fish available to order; a memorable touch. Through to the back, the garden is where guests dine, and what a place to do so; with rustic stone steps, palm trees, wicker lanterns and potted herbs, this area oozes bohemian and is a must visit if you are in the area.

Where to stay

Our Pleiades three bedroom villa is situated in the heart of Crete's most popular eastern area.  With glorious views over the Gulf of Mirabello, this stylish villa is a great choice for families or friends. If you are visiting Pelagos whilst staying, you won't be in the car for long, as it is just under 10 minutes away.
