In aid of national wine day, we thought it would only be appropriate to celebrate by uncovering the best vineyards in Tuscany; so you are fully equipped for your next villa stay. Take a look at our recommendations and go and see for yourself…

1. Barone Ricasoli

Fancy not only sipping on some local wine, but also discovering history whilst you do it? Barone Ricasoli is Chianti’s oldest wine estate and is over nine hundred years old with two hundred and forty hectares of vineyards and twenty six olive groves. A wide range of experiences are available to enjoy here such as sunset tours and gourmet dinners.

Where to stay

Casa Di Sopra is only a thirty minute drive away from Barone Ricasoli and is a beautifully restored ancient farmhouse that has been thoughtfully designed by the artistic owners to combine contemporary facilities with country house elegance.

2. Salcheto

If you are into sustainability and want to support an environmentally conscious winery, then Salcheto will be right up your street. Compliant with the ‘Equalitas standard’, Salcheto is noted for its carbon footprint, water footprint and Indice Biodiversità (the monitor of the quality of soil and the farm's ecosystem).

Where to stay

In a stunning sylvan setting, with beautiful bucolic views of timeless hills and valleys, our Casa dei Vini in Tuscany is steeped in tranquility, yet within easy reach of historic towns and a forty minute drive away from Salcheto’s vineyards.

3. Col d’Orcia

This impressive winery is owned by the Cinzano family and proudly keeps to its roots with a classic feel. From family paintings on display to maintained original features, Col d’Orcia is a organic winery with handfuls of character that will provide guests with memories to last a lifetime.

Where to stay

Sant’ Antonio is extremely close to Col d’Orcia; just a fifteen minute drive away to be exact. Enjoy not only the rustic architecture at the winery, but back at your villa too. A flexible cook service is available upon request if guests wish to enjoy some Italian food; maybe even with some wine from Col d’Orcia to accompany it.

4. Azienda Agricola Montefioralle

If small and serene settings are more your thing, then head over to Montefioralle. This family run vineyard provides tours with a personal touch by a member of the Sieni family showing you around. With just ten thousand bottles produced a year, this vineyard definitely goes for quality over quantity.

Where to stay

Situated close to Florence, Le Cascine is a historic country villa boasting extraordinary views, a magnificent large pool and an enviable location. Azienda Agricola Montefioralle is just a thirty minute drive away.
