Senior Villa Specialist

Jo Simmons

My career in the hospitality industry started when I worked in the USA, but over time it has taken me to France, Corsica, mainland Greece and the Greek Islands. I started at CV Villas over 16 years ago, working for them both in Corfu and the UK, which has given me a really good understanding of the job and how it all fits together. I have a passion for studying the areas that I sell - I am always wanting to expand on my knowledge about an area or country, and am always looking for something new and different that I can offer a customer. Speaking to customers or travel agents every day is probably the best part of the job - I love helping them to make their holiday ideas come alive and create memories.

What is your favourite destination?

I can't pick a favourite destination - I love discovering new ones too much! When I travel, I most enjoy exploring something that's new to me - meeting the people and having the chance to learn all about its amazing history and culture.

Which destination is top of your bucket list and why?

I am really intrigued by Japan - especially its incredible gardens, temples and the gorgeous cherry blossom season. It is a country of contrasts and iconic sights, that has such a rich history and unique (but varied) culture.

How do you spend your time whilst on holiday?

Before I travel, you'll usually find me in one of my local coffee shops with a travel guide in hand. I always research and read up about the destination before I go, as I think it's a real shame to travel somewhere and not properly experience it! When I'm on holiday, I love to walk, so can often be found looking for a new walking route to try.

What's your top travel tip?

If you're in a city, make sure to visit the tourist information centres - local people have local knowledge, and are always helpful with advice and tips. Try the local food, learn to how to say good morning and thank you in the local language, and use the local bus or train - often much easier (and cheaper) than finding a parking space. Lastly, pack only the essentials - do you really need to take your whole wardrobe with you?
