Our view

Quietly placed on the same private estate as its popular sister-villa Arethusa, this is a stylishly simple family villa, with the feel of a rural retreat.

In brief

  • Walk to the beach
  • Walk to a restaurant
  • All bedrooms en suite

About the villa

This refreshingly understated house is a relaxing coast and country combination. Designed in airy, uncluttered style, with arty touches here and there, the villa’s ground floor is an open-plan arrangement of kitchen, dining and sitting areas, where cool toned fabrics echo the colour of exposed stone walls, and French doors lead out to a shaded terrace beside the private pool. With a barbecue and sunbathing lawn to enhance outdoor living, Nereus is fully air-conditioned for indoor comfort and has two bedrooms with sea views on the upper floor, each with en suite bath or shower room. The lovely cove of Paliolinos is a short walk down the hillside from the villa just 450metres away and  little village of Spartia is 2km away with its own lovely sandy beach, mini-markets and simple tavernas.  Lassi beach is within easy reach for water sports enthusiasts, and to up the tempo a little, the capital, Argostoli, is a twenty minute drive from Nereus for shopping, museums of island life, and sunset seafront dining.

About the area

Average weather

Kefalonia is the largest island of the Ionian Islands, however it is not best known for its size but for its unspoiled beauty, stunning sandy beaches, lush forests, spectacular mountains and for neighbouring with Ithaca, the homeland of one of the most famous myths of Ancient Greece’s culture: Ulysses. The island’s wartime travails were recorded in the novel and film Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, which did much to put Kefalonia holidays on the map. Whichever part of the island you choose for your villa holiday, you’ll be sure to find your own little slice of paradise nearby.
