Corfu Airport

Lisa Bogdou

I was born in Norfolk and moved to Corfu in 1988 to work in the travel industry as a representative for ILG Holidays. I have worked for CV Villas as an airport representative for 21 years. I enjoy welcoming guests each Monday at the airport - especially as many seem like old friends as they are returning guests who have been travelling with CV Villas for many years.

Describe the perfect day in your destination?

My perfect day would be spent relaxing on a secluded beach with my friends or family, a good book and a refreshing ginger beer! I would follow this with a lovely meal in a local taverna and then have a stroll in the evening around Corfu Town, stopping for a glass of wine in the Liston.

What are your top travel tips for your destination?

Always read up on the area you want to stay in to see if it suits your needs and expectations. Remember that you are in a foreign country and things are often done differently to what you know - and usually at a much slower pace! Just relax and enjoy the experience.

What local cuisine would you recommend to people staying in your destination?

Start with a selection of starters or mezedes as this is the best way to experience the real Greek cuisine - Kologethokeftedes (courgette/feta cheese fried patties) are my favourite! Then try a tradtional Corfiot dish of Sofrito (tender beef cooked in a garlic sauce) with puree potatoes. Finish off with a slice of Karidopitta and vanilla ice cream! The perfect meal!

What experiences would you recommend to our customers in your destination?

A trip into Corfu Town is a must! Not only for the shopping experiences, but to walk through the narrow winding streets of the Venician-style old town, or to just sit in the area called The Liston and watch the world go by.
