I am of Sicilian origin but I live in Florence, the heart of Tuscany. I have always had a passion for travel and have spent several years working within tourism whilst living in London. I have had the great privileged to travel and thus experience many destinations and different cultures within Europe, Asia, America and Caribbean. I have acquired a tourist guide licence having studied here in Florence and I would love to share my knowledge of the history, culture and magnificent sights this beautiful area has to offer.

Describe the perfect day in your destination?

My perfect day is having breakfast in one of the many open air caffes surrounding the beautiful Piazza Duomo in Florence with the view of Santa Maria del Fiore’s giant Dome. Admiring the exterior walls and its marble mix of colours, sets the joyful tone for the rest of the day! To follow, I would opt for an art exhibition and then eat a platter of typical cheeses and cold cuts accompanied by a glass of red wine from the Chianti area.

What are your top travel tips for your destination?

Tuscany offers great day trips with lots to do and experience. The countryside being one of the top outings to immerse yourself. The Tuscan countryside cannot be easily forgotten, its colours and its elegance has inspired many artists around the world. Vineyards and wine producers where you can taste local wine and excellent extra virgin olive oils that this region is famous for. Other top destinations for a day trip could be more cultural. The most interesting cities to visit are Pisa, Siena, Florence and do not forget smaller towns such as San Gimignano.

What local cuisine would you recommend to people staying in your destination?

I recommend eating the Florentine steak, porcini mushrooms, cheese and cold cuts with bread to be dipped in extra virgin olive oil, pasta with tomato and basil, and if you go to the seaside, try the caciucco ( a delicious fish soup). When it comes to wine you will be spoilled for choice.

What experiences would you recommend to our customers in your destination?

To get an idea of Tuscany I recommend visiting a city, my favourite being Florence with a couple of museums, Chianti with a wine tasting experience and a delicious lunch, and the sea side towns of Viareggio and Forte Dei Marmi  without forgetting a bit of shopping along the way.
