About the villa

Steeped in a sense of seclusion and providing complete privacy for slow-lane summer living, La Souste is an intriguing paradox. The setting is a chestnut-wooded hillside, in a region where wild boar roam, and wild mushrooms flavour the menus of some excellent local restaurants. The house, with its pretty pale blue shutters, nestles amid the trees, in natural gardens coloured with oleanders and flower-filled terracotta pots. So, first impressions are traditional, bucolic simplicity, which makes the villa’s arty interiors something of a surprise. The kitchen is a gentle introduction, well equipped and fitted in contemporary country style. Elsewhere, stylish lighting, bold colours and striking artworks embellish elegant bedrooms. Wifi, satellite TV and a surround-sound music system feature in the sitting room. And a covered terrace, one of several al fresco settings, is furnished with flair for outdoor dining. Well planned for groups of friends, La Souste has a boules pitch and a lovely pool in the grounds, and is a walkable 1km from shops and eateries in La Garde-Freinet, 10km from Port Grimaud beach, and 20km from St. Tropez.

About the area

Bay of St. Tropez

Average weather

Sandwiched between an azure bay and the rocky outcrops of the Var, the St.-Tropez peninsula offers a patchwork of scenery and experiences. To the west, sun-kissed St. Tropez flaunts its pastel-shaded streets and dinky old port where the glitterati anchor luxury yachts. To the east Fréjus is famed for its Roman ruins and Episcopal baptistery; and the beaches of St. Raphael are frequented by water-sports lovers. Add to this the volcanic, red Massif de l’Estérel, whose peaks are perfect for hiking expeditions, and in the Bay of St. Tropez you have yourself one varied holiday destination.
