About the villa

A charming family villa in Jamaica, in a truly enviable spot, at ‘Tranquility on the Beach’ the name says it all. A ten metre swimming pool and gorgeous gazebo each look over the water, naturally screened with tropical greenery for shade and privacy. Below the lawns, a curve of soft sand slopes gently into the shallows, where a reef is perfectly positioned for snorkelling. And within the colourful gardens, accommodation is divided between the spacious main house and the modern beach cottage, comfortably sleeping four guests and complete with its own living room and kitchenette.

The villa’s large veranda and airy sitting room are natural social spaces, tennis and kayaks add sport on land and sea, and with inclusive cook service, candlelit dinners can be quite magical as the lights of small fishing boats draw all eyes to the bay. Tranquility is a twenty minute drive from Montego Bay, and adjacent to villas SERENITY and NOBLE HOUSE, which could be booked together for larger groups.

Important Information

50% Deposit required for any bookings travelling between (or including) the 20th December and the 10th January, 30% at any other times. Please note that any stays that include both the 25th and the 31st December will be subject to a Christmas supplement NOT included in the pricing calendar, special booking conditions apply.

Gratuities

For all villas in Jamaica there are fixed staff gratuities that are payable on top of the villa rental price: 10% of the villa rental in High Season, 15% in Low Season. These can be paid locally in cash (US dollars or Jamaican dollars) but we strongly recommend pre-paying them with your holiday balance so that this is all taken care of beforehand as it is often difficult to withdraw large amounts of cash locally

Groceries

A typical grocery budget is US$55-$65 per adult per day and US$25 per day for preteens [Note: A few villas have higher food and beverage budgets.]. This may vary up or down depending on market prices and menus. If you request shrimp, lobster, imported beef or large quantities of other food items, this estimate will increase. Your cook will pre-purchase your first few meals, pantry staples and a small starter bar (a few bottles of Red Stripe, moderately-priced wine and rum). Additional alcohol requests will increase your budget.
If you wish to go to the various markets with your cook, you are welcome. Otherwise, simply review with them your tastes and distastes and they'll handle it all while you stay at the villa and relax. At week's end, they will present receipts and reconcile your account. Please be prepared to pay for your groceries with cash or credit cards and to tip your villa staff and driver with cash. We cannot accept prepayment for groceries or staff gratuities at Tryall Club villas. They will welcome both US and Jamaican dollars.
Estimating grocery costs is not a science. Much depends on the menus you want and current market prices. Obviously, this is a variable so anticipate that your cook may refund money at week's end... or ask you for more money mid-week. In either case, your cook or chef will reconcile your food and beverage bill at week's end.
On your first day at the villa, your cook will meet with you regarding menus for the week, then finish the week's shopping. At that time, you will give them cash for your food and drink plus their $60 taxi fare. Alternatively, if one or more of you wish to go to the supermarket with your cook, you may use your credit card. (Stores will not accept your card from your cook if you are not present with them.) Roadside vendors of fresh fruits and produce will require cash.

Staff

The day starts while guests are still asleep. The cook quietly places pots of steaming Jamaican coffee on the veranda. Full breakfast is served when all guests are ready. A typical breakfast may include fresh-squeezed orange juice and fresh fruits, banana fritters or plantain, eggs, bacon, pancakes or cereal ~ or Jamaican ackee and salt fish. For lunches and dinners, your cook will prepare their own mix of Jamaican specialties ~ including delicious homemade soups and desserts, lobster, curried goat, jerk pork or chicken, pasta, lamb, beef, fresh fish ~ or serve traditional American fare as you request. Warning: Jamaican cooks are excellent and portions are generous! Your cook will handle grocery shopping and meal preparation. Your chambermaid and laundress will care for every detail of your bedroom and bath ~ providing fresh linens and flowers, returning your neatly-folded laundry, and turning down your bed each evening. The gardener will maintain the pool and grounds immaculately each day. If there is a butler included, then they serve, tend bar and generally facilitate.
