About the villa

A very independent villa, with its own swimming pool, tennis court and extensive grounds, Goat Hill feels deliciously quiet and separate, though it is just twenty minutes from Montego Bay and an easy ten minute drive from the renowned Round Hill Resort and Beach Club. A stylish and sophisticated luxury villa, its thoroughly relaxing tempo is enhanced by inclusive cook service, from breakfast in the dappled shade of a tree, to poolside lunches, and al fresco dinners with the lights of the bay as a backdrop. With chic interiors of rich wooden floors and crisp white fabrics, the villa comprises a cluster of separate pavilions.

Each of the bedrooms is open on three sides to balconies and beautiful views. All have an outdoor shower, two feature four-poster beds, and the master suite enjoys the luxury of a large al fresco Jacuzzi. In the gardens, the nine metre pool forms a focal point, while a rustic stone terrace, furnished in cool rattan, is the perfect setting for sundowners. A rare find, this relatively small villa is big on comfort, style and facilities.

Important Information

50% Deposit required for any bookings travelling between (or including) the 20th December and the 10th January, 30% at any other times. Please note that any stays that include both the 25th and the 31st December will be subject to a Christmas supplement NOT included in the pricing calendar, special booking conditions apply.

Gratuities

For all villas in Jamaica there are fixed staff gratuities that are payable on top of the villa rental price: 10% of the villa rental in High Season, 15% in Low Season. These can be paid locally in cash (US dollars or Jamaican dollars) but we strongly recommend pre-paying them with your holiday balance so that this is all taken care of beforehand as it is often difficult to withdraw large amounts of cash locally

Groceries

A typical grocery budget is US$55-$65 per adult per day and US$25 per day for preteens [Note: A few villas have higher food and beverage budgets.]. This may vary up or down depending on market prices and menus. If you request shrimp, lobster, imported beef or large quantities of other food items, this estimate will increase. Your cook will pre-purchase your first few meals, pantry staples and a small starter bar (a few bottles of Red Stripe, moderately-priced wine and rum). Additional alcohol requests will increase your budget.
If you wish to go to the various markets with your cook, you are welcome. Otherwise, simply review with them your tastes and distastes and they'll handle it all while you stay at the villa and relax. At week's end, they will present receipts and reconcile your account. Please be prepared to pay for your groceries with cash or credit cards and to tip your villa staff and driver with cash. We cannot accept prepayment for groceries or staff gratuities at Tryall Club villas. They will welcome both US and Jamaican dollars.
Estimating grocery costs is not a science. Much depends on the menus you want and current market prices. Obviously, this is a variable so anticipate that your cook may refund money at week's end... or ask you for more money mid-week. In either case, your cook or chef will reconcile your food and beverage bill at week's end.
On your first day at the villa, your cook will meet with you regarding menus for the week, then finish the week's shopping. At that time, you will give them cash for your food and drink plus their $60 taxi fare. Alternatively, if one or more of you wish to go to the supermarket with your cook, you may use your credit card. (Stores will not accept your card from your cook if you are not present with them.) Roadside vendors of fresh fruits and produce will require cash.

Staff

The day starts while guests are still asleep. The cook quietly places pots of steaming Jamaican coffee on the veranda. Full breakfast is served when all guests are ready. A typical breakfast may include fresh-squeezed orange juice and fresh fruits, banana fritters or plantain, eggs, bacon, pancakes or cereal ~ or Jamaican ackee and salt fish. For lunches and dinners, your cook will prepare their own mix of Jamaican specialties ~ including delicious homemade soups and desserts, lobster, curried goat, jerk pork or chicken, pasta, lamb, beef, fresh fish ~ or serve traditional American fare as you request. Warning: Jamaican cooks are excellent and portions are generous! Your cook will handle grocery shopping and meal preparation. Your chambermaid and laundress will care for every detail of your bedroom and bath ~ providing fresh linens and flowers, returning your neatly-folded laundry, and turning down your bed each evening. The gardener will maintain the pool and grounds immaculately each day. If there is a butler included, then they serve, tend bar and generally facilitate.

About the area

Jamaica

Average weather

Lying to the south of Cuba, Jamaica is the third-largest island in the Caribbean. Rainforest covered hills around Port Antonio contrast with swampy morass at the Royal Palm Reserve and the white-sand beaches of the north coast resorts. Music is an integral part of the country’s culture: on a Jamaica holiday, you will hear reggae playing in almost every bar, restaurant, and shop, and gospel harmonies ring out from white-washed churches. Life in Jamaica’s beach resorts—Negril, Montego Bay, and Ocho Rios—is laid-back and easy-going—except when you visit the markets, where stallholders insist upon good-natured haggling.
