About the villa
Designed, furnished and decorated with more than a little panache, this one-of-a-kind holiday home is an arty conversion of an old olive and grape press, whose wheel, tools and millstone are intriguing features in the villa’s spacious living room. A second smaller Tsitting room with Smart TV adjoins the airy dining room, both with double doors out to the garden, and the bright, brick floored country kitchen is complete with modern appliances, a breakfast table and outdoor access to a dining area under pergola shade. A practical mix of twin, double and single rooms makes this an ideal choice for family get-togethers.
At first floor level there is a twin bedroom on the right at the top of the staircase, a further double and twin bedroom accessed from a passageway leading off the large sitting room on this level. At the opposite end of the sitting room there is a master bedroom with bathroom en suite. With independent access from outside there is a simple single bedroom with use of adjacent shower room most suitable for a young adult. And with a barbecue and large swimming pool enclosed in its beautiful gardens, Casa Gelsomino provides leisure and privacy in equal measure. The house is naturally cool with thick walls, enjoys a hill top location and fans are provided in all rooms. About 800m from a mini-market, pizzeria and restaurant in the large village, Casa Gelsomino is 10km from Casciana Terme spa, 17km from Salvadori beach, and within easy day-trip reach of shopping and sightseeing in Pisa, Lucca and Florence.

Average weather
Although they are only 17km apart, Pisa and Lucca instantly feel like different worlds. The former is a lively student city on the River Arno, and has one of the world’s most recognizable monuments: the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Understated Lucca is compact and genteel, ideal for a Tuscany villa nearby, with handsome piazzas that frame churches in the Luccan-Romanesque style. Those on a Lunigiana holiday occupy the Apennine foothills in far north-western Tuscany. It is rolling, blissfully empty terrain whose few inhabitants have cultural links with neighbouring Liguria.
