About the villa

Encircled by elegant cypress spires and ancient olive trees, this very Mediterranean villa is furnished in informal country style, its cool rooms framed by flagstone floors and beamed timber ceilings. Huge terraces of mellow stone surround a softly curved infinity pool, and hem the house to create an elegant al fresco sitting and dining room, catching sea breezes, covered for shade, and complete with marble dining table. Understated and ultra-relaxing, the spacious house has a well-equipped kitchen and cheerful living room, and five bedrooms, each with air conditioning and a ceiling fan.Cook service can be arranged locally for truly leisurely days, and Kouloura’s taverna is a ten minute stroll from the villa. With views through the trees to the glittering sea, this hillside hideaway has a private footpath through the olive groves, emerging on the eucalyptus-shaded beach below. Becalmed between two bigger bays, Kouloura is just 1km from water sports and the Blue Flag beach of Kalami, and an easy 7km drive from nightlife in Kassiopi.

Yialiskari, Kalami & Kouloura

Average weather

Kalami, Kouloura, and Yialiskari are among the prettiest villages on Corfu’s north-east coast. Their collective character attracted writer Lawrence Durrell to the area before World War II. In Kalami you can eat and sleep in the White House, where Durrell and his wife settled, and view memorabilia and cuttings about the man. Kouloura, in the next bay, has a nautical feel, the oldest harbour on that coast, dating from Byzantine times, and is protected by a stone wall. Yialiskari holidays are usually spent on the village’s sandy beach; it is sheltered by impressive rocks that plunge straight into the sea.

BOAT HIRE

There is no better way to explore the coastline and discover deserted bays and coves with their translucent water to add to the overall enjoyment of your holiday. Small boats and speedboats can be pre-booked with our UK office prior to departure and we recommend early reservations, especially in July and August, as availability is limited. Smaller size boats can still be hired without a licence which remains unchanged.
