Caribbean villa holiday guide

From white sand beach villas in Barbados, to tropical gardens in Nevis, our villas in the Caribbean come in all shapes and sizes and are located across seven idyllic islands. Try Antigua villas for superb sea views in a truly tranquil setting, or Mustique for laidback luxury properties and fine dining. Enjoy the lush greenery and the famous pitons of St Lucia, while our villas on the volcanic island of Grenada are home to some extraordinary private pools with beautiful beach backdrops. The Caribbean is a playground for hikers, sailors, birdwatchers, mountain bikers, and horse riders. The experiences you can expect on a Caribbean villa holiday are as diverse as the rum cocktail recipes served at the islands’ beach bars.

Things to do in the Caribbean

Things to do in Antigua

Encircled by striking coral reefs, the island of Antigua is famous for its soft sands, so naturally our villas are all within walking distance of a sandy beach. Picture panoramic views whichever way you turn, and if you care to venture away from the comfort of your luxury villa, there are a multitude of hiking trails, cycle routes and watersports available. If you’re interested in a more relaxing holiday, then we can recommend a lobster lunch cruise or a leisurely crawl of the island’s best beach bars. For a unique and once in a lifetime Antigua holiday experience, close to where some of our villas are located is Stingray City, where you can actually hug one of these beautiful gentle creatures.

Things to do in Barbados

Though it may be renowned for its blissful beaches, Beautiful Barbados ticks all the boxes when it comes to a Caribbean villa holiday. Starting with the cuisine, a great way to experience this is on a Bajan walking food tour in Bridgetown, or with a visit to Oistins Friday Night Fish Fry; make sure to stop off at Barbados rum shop. Alternatively, for a more indulgent dining experience opt for one of our villas in Barbados with cook service. Our properties are located within easy reach of some of the most beautiful beaches on the west coast of the island, namely Mullins beach, Gibbes beach and Reeds Bay - each with crystal clear waters and gorgeous sunset views. Watersports are easy to find and green sea turtles can be spotted whilst snorkelling. Visit at the end of July for all the excitements of Barbados Carnival.

Things to do in Grenada

A villa holiday in Grenada can be utterly relaxing or adventurous - or perhaps a bit of both. Start the day out on your villa’s terrace with a mug of cocoa tea – the island’s traditional breakfast drink, before jumping in your private pool for a leisurely morning swim. Away from your villa, while out exploring you will come across many rainforests scattered with cascading waterfalls for hiking and rock-hopping. If you like chocolate, then Grenada is the island for you and we recommend stopping off at one of three organic chocolate factories, with chocolate tasting included of course; alternatively rum tasting can be enjoyed at a traditional rum distillery. And perhaps it goes without saying that sailing and snorkelling in the clear blue waters is as wonderful as you would expect, and some of our villas have their own private jetty’s.

Things to do in Mustique

A private island that is fit for kings and queens, Mustique villa holidays encourage plenty of non-activities—like lying on a hammock tied between palm trees on a bed of white sand at Macaroni beach. Other ‘musts of Mustique’ include horse riding and world-class snorkelling in the crystal clear sea, while picnicking at the beach is a very popular pastime, with complimentary picnic spots available to book for villa guests. Visit the watersports centre at Endeavour bay for some assistance deciding between windsurfing and stand-up paddleboarding, or spend a day sailing and visit the neighbouring island of Bequia. Walking is a great way to see the island before heading back to your villa for dinner; all our Mustique villas include cook or chef service.

Things to do in Nevis

In Nevis spend the afternoon taking tea on the wrap-around veranda of a plantation house. Our small but mighty villa collection here features romantic hideaways, sunset sea views and high-spec luxury. Picture-postcard Oualie beach and Pinney’s beach are both beautiful- palm tree lined with soft sands within walking distance of some of our houses. The capital, Charlestown is worthy of a visit and a walking tour is a great way to learn about the country’s history, and to dip your toes in the free-flowing thermal stream. Finally, no villa holiday in Nevis is complete without a refreshing rum punch.

Things to do in St Lucia

Sightseeing is made easy on holiday in St. Lucia. Take a day trip from your villa to Pigeon Island National Park for beautiful scenic views, where you can hike to the fortress or simply relax on the beach. View the Pitons from a sunset catamaran cruise with a rum cocktail in hand, or if you’re feeling energetic you can climb Gros Piton. Active types will also enjoy mountain biking through rainforest canopies, but if that feels like too much, head to one of the many luxury spas. Enjoy a treatment that uses local ingredients, such as coconut oil and aloe vera, beneath the shade of a bamboo gazebo. Alternatively, create your own spa experience away from your luxury villa at Sulphur Springs - home to the only drive-in volcano in the world, where you can also relax and enjoy a mud bath. Snorkelling in St Lucia is wonderful, and some of the best can be found at Anse Chastanet Beach. Meanwhile, groups holidaying with children will love Splash Island Water Park with inflatable activities including a trampoline, hurdles and a climbing wall.

Eating and drinking in the Caribbean

Away from your villa fine-dining restaurants on Barbados and Mustique serve Kobe beef and foie-gras. Pull up a chair at a cafe in one of Antigua’s harbour towns and you can tuck into pepperpot, a pot-luck, peppery soup made from leftover meats and vegetables. If you’re planning a very relaxing holiday opt for one of our caribbean villas with cook service - many have a cook included, while others have the option of adding a cook upon request.

When to go to The Caribbean

The Caribbean is known for having perhaps the best climate in the world, unsurprisingly seeing as temperatures tend to stay between 24-29°c all year round. The best time of year for a villa holiday is between December and April, May to November is when it’s more likely to rain and July to October is when some islands experience hurricane season.
